Description
2026 is the African Union's Year of Water and Sanitation, placing water security at the center of the continent's climate and development agenda. Young Africans are already building climate solutions; in water, energy, agriculture, and sustainable innovation — and in doing so, they're creating a new kind of economy. Climate innovation isn't separate from the jobs conversation; it's becoming one of the continent's biggest sources of new work. This panel brings together young innovators and youth leadership from the UN and AU to share what's actually being built on the ground, and what it will take to turn that innovation into lasting, scalable employment.
Moderator: Monicah W. Ndung'u, Chief of Corporate Affairs, Marketing & Partnerships Office, Nation Media Group
Speakers:
- Ahunna Eziakonwa, Under Secretary-General and Special Advisor on Africa
- Reanne Olivier, CEO Africa Matters Initiative
- Dialla Moumouni, President, Pan African Youth Union
Organized by the UN Department of Global Communications in collaboration with the PVBLIC Foundation, the SDG Media Zone takes the conversation on advancing the 2030 Agenda out of the policy sphere and into the public discourse through impactful in-depth interviews and conversations on global issues that matter to people everywhere.
